The City of Dumaguete has sent the fourth batch of farm trainees to the Yeongdong-gun community in South Korea.
A statement from City Hall said the 71 farm trainees from Dumaguete City left last week for Cebu City en route to South Korea to learn more about the country’s agricultural technology, and acquire skills they can use for their livelihood when they return to the Philippines.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has assigned two personnel from the City government responsible in making sure that the welfare and safety of the farm trainees are promoted at all times, in coordination with the Yeongdong local government, the statement said.
The applicants are screened by the Yeongdong-gun government, which has filled up the remaining slots for this year.
The statement said both Dumaguete City and Yeongdong-gun are interested in expanding the coverage of the program embodied in the Sister City agreement that will require an additional number of trainees to be accepted in the farms of South Korea next year. (PR)
