Have you been to Rianna’s?
Rianna’s is an arts & crafts gift shop located at 96 Cervantes St. in our City.
Although this shop is loaded with many wonderful things, this is not a promotional ad. I’ve written about Fortune Mart and recently, OK Mart on their personal decisions to feature paper shopping bags sans the implementation of the Plastics Regulation Ordinance #231. Rianna’s is unique and one would say, exceptional.
Before the gift shop opened almost three years ago, proprietor Rhea Q. Alo-Rañola made a conscious decision NOT to use plastic shopping bags.
Early on, she already realized that these plastics bags were harmful to our Mother Earth. Thus, paper bags are the norm in her shop. In addition for those really large and/or numerous purchases, Rianna’s provides a re-usable bag (in gold or in white) for free, and if upon your return you re-use the bag, Rianna’s will give you an automatic P20 rebate.
How wonderful to discover that in Dumaguete City and in Negros Oriental, there are people who, at the onset, decide to do the right thing for Mother Earth. Hats Off to you Rhea and may your tribe increase.
