At a time when the world’s attention is focused on the events of the Paris Olympic Games, teenagers from Negros Oriental are making waves in football, inspiring the next generation of Negrenses.

Zara Danieles, Kelly Anub, Erika Jamie and Chairman nation from the Carabell Football Club and Alexis Abestano were selected to be part of the Philippine Team called LAOS FC that recently played in the prestigious Norway Cup 2024.

These athletes, who have brought honor to our province by playing for the national team and securing a spot in the semifinals, are a testament to the talent, dedication, and spirit of our youth.

Their unexpected success is more than just a win on the field; it is a victory for the entire community as these young footballers have become role models, inspiring some 60 children across Negros Oriental to pick up a ball, head to the field, and dream big. Football, a sport that demands physical endurance, mental toughness, and teamwork, is not just about scoring goals—it is about developing character, discipline, and a sense of belonging.

As these athletes’ achievements have sparked a renewed interest in football among our youth, through this grassroots sports program and with this growing enthusiasm, we are witnessing a ripple effect. More and more children are now eager to learn the game, engaging in healthy physical activity that not only keeps them fit but also teaches them valuable life skills.

The benefits of this movement extend far beyond the football pitch. As our young people embrace the sport, they are also embracing healthier lifestyles, reducing the risk of illnesses associated with inactivity. Moreover, the discipline learned through regular training and competition can lead to better academic performance and personal development.

Let us celebrate these young football players not just for their victories, but for the inspiration they provide. They have shown us what is possible with hard work, dedication, and passion. And as they continue to grow and succeed, they will undoubtedly inspire the next generation to do the same.
