The Aboitiz Group immediately responding the appeals for help by local officials in the province Negros Oriental, especially for those cities and municipality was badly hit by the typhoon Sendong last Dec. 17.
Theresa Sederiosa, external relations Manager of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, and his team came to Dumaguete Tuesday, and distributed relief goods and mineral water in barangays Poblacion 8, Camanjac, and Motong.
On Wednesday, the group went to towns of Valencia and Tanjay for another distribution of the relief goods and bottled mineral water.
“ We gave 200 packs in Valencia, 500 relief packs for Dumaguete and 500 packs, in Tanjay City with a total monetary cost distributed to the Province amounting to P500,000,” according to Sederiosa.
Aboitiz Group companies nationwide has pitched in the effort, sending donations in cash and in kind. Thousands of bottled water, canned goods and other food items, clothes, blankets, slippers and assorted medicines, among others, are transported daily to the affected areas, Sederiosa said.
For his part, Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria lauded the effort of the Aboitiz Group and other private companies, public officials, individuals for helping the typhoon victims in Dumaguete and the nearby towns.
