The National Bureau of Investigation has confirmed on Friday that the couple from Bais City who had been missing since the March 28 earthquake in Myanmar, were among those who had died.
Edsil Jess Adalid and his wife Alexis Gale worked at the Mandalay International School of Acumen, and were in their rented unit on the 9th floor of Building D of Sky Villa, a five-building residential complex in Mandalay that collapsed during the Magnitude 7.7 earthquake.
Their identities were confirmed through forensic analysis.
“The NBI team went to Myanmar to collect four samples from the victims. At the same time, our team collected reference samples from the relatives’ victims,” said Romel Papa, assistant director for Forensic & Scientific Research Service.
“In two weeks, we processed it through DNA analysis, and we yielded positive results,” Papa said.
The remains of Edsil and Alexis are scheduled for repatriation to Bais City soon. (AP)
