2016 National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes’ groundbreaking Filipino rock-opera-ballet Rama, Hari will be staged Oct. 5-6 at the SU Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium.

It will also be the inaugural cultural show for the Luce’s 50th anniversary celebration.

The production, inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, features a collaboration of some of the country’s awarded artists: 2018 National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, 2003 National Artist for Theater Design Salvador Bernal, 2006 National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera who wrote the libretto, and 1997 National Artist for Theater & Literature Rolando Tinio who provided the translation.

National Artist Reyes serves as the artistic consultant for the Professional Artist Support Program, and chairperson emeritus of the Alice Reyes Dance Philippines.

The cast includes Ejay Arisola as Rama, Monica Gana as Sita, and Erl Sorilla as Lakshmana. Lester Reguindin and Sarah Alejandro will portray the villains Ravana and Soorpanakha. John Ababon, Micha Carreon, Karla Santos, Krislynne Buri, and Renzen Arboleda also return to their roles in this historic production.

This event is supported by the SU Culture & Arts Council under the direction of Dr. Diomar Abrio.

Tickets for Rama, Hari are available on the CAC website and at the SU College of Performing & Visual Arts. For ticket reservations, contact (035) 420-1901 local 522. (SU Media & Public Affairs)
