All is set for the Brigada Eskwela 2016 in the Negros Island Region next week.

The Department of Education (DepEd) held Friday in Kabankalan City the regional launching of Brigada Eskwela 2016, with a pre-launch held shortly before the regional launch on the same day

The pre-launch for Negros Oriental was at Mabinay town while for the Negros Occidental side at a public school also in Kabankalan City.

On Monday will be the simultaneous staging of the Brigada Eskwela at the different public elementary and high schools all over the province and the region, said Dr. Evangel Luminarias, schools division superintendent, Dep-Ed Dumaguete City division.

She appealed to the parents, their relatives and neighbors and other stakeholders to participate in the Brigada Eskwela which runs from Monday to Saturday.

Visit the schools, the principals will be happy to see your names in the logbook and it would be a big help if you pitched in at least one hour to help in the clean up, even if it’s just sweeping, pulling grass or a little hammering, she added.

There is a contest, too, for schools and she hopes that principals will be competing at the national level.

Luminarias disclosed they will writing the business establishments and other stakeholders to join the Brigada Eskwela as every hour of participation is converted into pesos.

The amount generated will be used for various school projects, she added.

The Brigada Eskwela allows the teachers and the school children to immediately start classes on June 13 this year, unlike in the past where they usually spent the first few days cleaning up the classrooms and the school premises, said Dr. Luminarias.

With this, it is hoped that the school children in Dumaguete City will have an increased level of learning, she added.

Also present during the Kapihan forum were Renante Juanillo, Senior High School Coordinator, DepEd-Division of Negros Oriental and Karla Panesa, Education Program Specialist, Adopt-A-School program coordinator of Dep-Ed, Negros Oriental division. (PNA)
