Many of today’s successful professionals will be able to identify with Florence A. Tangente, a woman who does an amazing job of balancing her responsibilities as a lawyer, a Certified Public Accountant, an entrepreneur, a wife, and a mother.

Her status and all of her achievements were not conveniently served on a silver platter. She had to endure many challenges before she reached the prime of her career and economic standing.

Life for Atty. Tangente started from humble beginnings. Thanks to her inner drive, talent and intellect, she was able to emerge victorious. She is now JFT Group of Companies’ chief executive officer and chief of Operations.

In line with her entrepreneurial nature, she expanded her horizon and ventured into related and other undertakings like the JFT Finance & Credit Services Corp; Tangente & Bonganciso Law & Accounting Office; Tangente & Partners Corp; Obdulia’s Business Inn; Florence Inn & Business Center of Jimalalud; J&O Apartments; PR Travel Consultants & Turista Tours; and Florjacint, Inc., a subsidiary of JFT Finance & Credit Services Corp. — Real Estate.

She also keeps herself updated with the developments and the growing demands of her chosen field by maintaining an affiliation with various organizations like the Integrated Bar of the Philippines; the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce & Industry as corporate secretary; the Negros Oriental Hotel, Resorts & Restaurants Association as Board director; and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants as a member, who participated last year in its By-law Review Committee and Committee on Ethics.

Atty. Tangente truly has gone a long way from her early years as a student. Foundation University and her mentor, Dr. Eva C. Melon played an integral role in shaping the kind of person that she is today. With her deep gratitude towards the institution and its people, even after obtaining her degree, Atty. Tangente showed her unwavering support to her alma mater and its cause.

During the 2014 Alumni Homecoming, Dr. Melon said in her welcome address, “Foundation University continues its noble commitment to give quality education, despite the various challenges. We encourage you to share the same commitment…” Needless to say, Atty. Tangente truly did her part in sharing FU’s commitment.

It was in the same event that the FU Alumni Association, Inc. recognized her for being an exemplary alumna and one of its most generous donors. For many years now, Atty. Tangente supports the less fortunate but academically- qualified students by providing scholarship grants through the Association. She reaches out further by providing fellow FU alumni decent and sustainable jobs.

Florence A. Tangente is one alumna who Foundation University will always be proud of. She has done a great job in being an inspiration, continuously touching lives and making a difference.
