The newly-elected officers of the Association of Negros Oriental Public Information Officers (ANOPIO) took their oath of office before officials of the Presidential Communications Operations Office who were here in Dumaguete on Nov. 27.
The oath-taking took place at the sidelines of the PCOO Roadshow held at Silliman University.
PCOO Undersecretary for Administration & Legal Affairs Atty. Marvin Gatpayat administered the oathtaking, led by the new ANOPIO President, Desiderio Tilos Jr. of the local government unit of Valencia.
Other PCOO officials who witnessed the oath-taking include the executive director of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security Usec. Joel Sy Egco; director of the Freedom of Information Program Asst. Sec. Kristian Ablan; and Asst. Secretary for Brand Integration Ramon Cualoping III.
Other ANOPIO officers present during the oath-taking include Ma. Corazon Cartagena as vice president -North from the LGU of Canlaon City; Marnie Credo as vice president-South, from Dauin; and Rosalie Ignacio as treasurer, of Sibulan.
Other elected officials are Georgette Malagar as secretary, from the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority; Jenith Cabajon as auditor, from the Department of Education Negros Oriental Division; and press relations officers Dems Rey Demecillo from Dumaguete, and Dindo Amorganda from Mabinay.

Gatpayat congratulated the new set of officers and wished for the success of the organisation.
“I hope this endeavour…will inspire you to be good information officers. Maging partner tayo ng PCOO, ng PIA,” Gatpayat said.
He cited the importance of PIO networks like ANOPIO in disseminating information for public awareness on the development programs of the national government.
Gatpayat also noted that the PCOO had previously initiated programs to capacitate PIOs.
He assured that his Department will continue to engage and collaborate with PIOs to address the information needs of the public. (ral/PIA7-NegOr)
