Passport applicants availing of the Department of Foreign Affairs mobile passport program have turned out by the thousands, forcing the City Tourism Office to stop accepting applicants after the number reached the limit of 700.
City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling Jr. said that while his office would like to cater to more applicants, they have already exceeded the quota given by the DFA.
He said the City Tourism Office was overwhelmed with the number of applicants that poured in, admitting that “it was beyond our expectations.”
The Mobile Passport Program saves applicants the trouble of going either to Cebu or Bacolod to process their passports.
Maquiling further said that as part of their continuing process in doing services for the people of Dumaguete, the DFA will be opening an office at the Robinsons Place Dumaguete on May 5 and 6.
This is the fourth mobile passport service to be held in Dumaguete City.
