President Benigno Aquino III visited LinkSy IT Park in Dumaguete City last Sept. 7, saying projects such as this bring bright prospects for the Philippines.
The President said that after being elected President, he envisioned to boost programs that give Filipinos an option to stay in the country and not leave abroad to seek better employment.
“This LinkSy IT Park is the embodiment of that dream,” the President said in a speech he made at the LinkSy facilities, adding that the development project means progress for the country.
“This is the future that this IT Park promises the people. And more than that, the new jobs that this facility brings will have a positive effect on the economy,” he said.
Some experts say that this year, revenues will hit the $11-billion mark with the BPO industry creating 640,000 direct jobs in the Philippines, the President noted.
“I’m confident that this IT park will be a success on the back of the poll of competent graduates of excellent nearby universities,” he added.
LinkSy IT park, a wholly-owned Filipino company, is being erected to spur development in a less commercialized part of Dumaguete City. It will rise in a sprawling 11,164 square meter prime property in Bantayan, Dumaguete City.
According to July Development Corp., project owner, the facility will have three phases. Phase I is the construction of a four-storey building, expected to be completed in the next eight months.
Phase II is the construction of a three-storey building for commercial and IT purposes. The final phase is the development of a two-storey building in 2013.
The IT park, located along the national highway, will have elevators, high-powered generators, as well as a fiber optic communication system. This will also include a road network and parking area that can accommodate 200 vehicles. A drainage system and waste disposal facility will also be installed in the IT complex.
Accompanying the President during the event were Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong of Negros Oriental District 1, Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, Gov. Roel Degamo, and other local officials.
Also present were members of the business community, BPO stakeholders, heads of universities, and personnel from July Development Corp. led by Vice President Susano Sy, Director Alex Sy, and General Manager Danford Sy. (PIA 7)
