Three towns and two cities in Negros Oriental have joined 40 other local government units all over Central Visayas who have agreed to implement the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in their respective areas.
The towns of Bacong, Dauin, Valencia and the cities of Dumaguete and Tanjay, with 6,580 households, were represented in a signing ceremony in Cebu City last week.
Some 210,000 individuals are beneficiaries of the Pantawid program all over Central Visayas.
The agreement of the local chief executives to the terms and conditions of the Pantawid program would ensure the continuation of the earlier gains made under the program, a statement from the Department of Social Welfare & Development, which oversees the program, said.
The memorandum of agreement signing, held at the Sarossa International Hotel, was graced by DSWD Undersecretary Mateo Montano.
As each Mayor signed the MOA in acceptance of the program, they have also committed to providing the necessary supply side for health and education such as health center, workers, classrooms, opportunities for livelihood and the much needed monitoring of the beneficiaries’ compliance. (PR)
