Over 5,000 families affected by tropical storm Sendong in Tanjay City received assorted used clothing from the 302 Brigade, Philippine Army.
According to its public information officer, Captain Anacito Naz, six sacks of various used clothing were turned over to Mayor Lawrence Teves with the City Social Welfare and Development Officer at the City Hall of Tanjay City.
A total of 5, 293 families were affected in Tanjay from 18 barangays, while 380 hectares of fishponds were damaged; 381 farmlands; 280 hectares of rice plantation; and 18 hectares of corn plantation.
Brigade Commander Col. Francisco Patrimonio said the 302 Brigade and its operationally controlled units continue to find ways in helping those families who were affected by the tropical storm in Negros Oriental.
Patrimonio also said that the army troopers, CAFGUs and reservists personnel provided manpower and transportation assistance to government agencies, non-government organizations, local chief executives and other stakeholders in their relief operations to “Sendong” victims.
Recently, more than 50 military personnel, CAFGUs and reservists assisted the repacking of assorted relief goods of the ABS-CBN Cebu at the Silliman University Gymnasium in Dumaguete City. (MBCN/JCT/PIA-NEGOR)
