More than 2,400 service member aspirants are expected to take the scheduled Philippine Army Aptitude Test Battery and other Army pre-entry examination in six testing centers in Western Visayas in October.
“We are preparing accordingly for the dates set in this region. As we have experienced in Samar and Leyte provinces in August, exam centers had more than 400 examinees each”, said Maj Joseph Laguna, chief of the Army Recruitment Office for the Visayas.
“Unlike earlier examinations in August conducted only for officer-candidates, the upcoming tests will include tests for Candidate Soldier aspirants. Those who will be qualified for CS training will most likely be allotted to the 3rd Infantry Division. Officer candidates will train at the Officer Candidate School in Tarlac province,” added Laguna.
“Human resource has always been one of the most important component of any organization. The assignment of exam centers in various parts of the region will definitely broaden the pool of candidates for soldiery as we choose the best among the best for the Army”, said Mgen Jose Mabanta Jr., 3ID Commander.
The ARO team will be coming over in the islands of Panay and Negros in October for the scheduled PAATB examinations. The team will be augmented by personnel from the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division human resource office.
Examinations are scheduled to be conducted in six sites on: October 1-2 at the covered court of the 3ID Headquarters in Camp Gen. Macario Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz; October 3 at the Dayao Campus of the Capiz State University in Roxas City, Capiz; October 4-5 at the new site of the Western Institute of Technology in Iloilo City; October 6 at the West Negros University, Bacolod City; October 7 at the Negros State College of Agriculture, Sipalay City; October 8 at the Negros Oriental State University, Dumaguete City.

Monthly gross Pay and allowances for Candidate Soldier reach P 13,326, 19,062 for an enlisted Personnel with a rank of Private, P32,668 for an Officer Candidate to P37,770 once called to active duty as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Those who plan to take the Officer Candidate Course must prepare to undergo one full year of rigorous training in soldiery and leadership. Upon completion, the candidate will be commissioned by the President as Second Lieutenant in the Regular Force. To qualify, one has to be 21 to 24 years old, a Baccalaureate degree holder, Single, Filipino citizen and Physically and mentally fit.
For the Officer Preparatory Course, an individual must be ready for the challenges of a 6-month special course of continuing education in leadership and ground warfare tactics prior to active duty field deployment. To qualify, one must be 21 to 31 years Baccalaureate degree holder, Single, Filipino citizen, Physically and mentally fit and Must be a graduate of the Probationary Officer Training Course with a reserve rank of 2Lt.
Likewise, qualifications for Candidate Soldier Course are the following: 18-26 years old, High School graduate, Must be 5’0 in height and Physically and mentally fit.
