Bais Barangay II Capt. Danilo H. Alama received a formal commendation by the local chief executive, Mayor Karen F. Villanueva in front of local officials and employees at the City Hall shortly after the flag retreat ceremony on Jan. 26 after winning the Regional Search for the Most Outstanding Punong Barangay in December last year at the Cebu Grand Hotel, in Cebu City.

Earlier in 2012, Alama was chosen by the City of Bais as representative to the Ten Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year (TOBOY) for the 2nd District for the Component City Categories for Punong Barangay. He was then declared winner of the province and became the representative for the Regional Search for the same contest. After thorough actual evaluation conducted by the Regional Search Committee, he received communication from DILG Region VII to report to the Regional Search Committee for a panel interview as finalist on Dec. 13, 2012 at the DILG Regional Office in Cebu City. A day later, he was declared as the winner for the regional search.

Alama was assessed based on his outstanding accomplishments, performance, innovations, and exemplary leadership in the field of public service. Referring to his leadership qualities, he noted in an interview that the best way to lead people “is to lead them by example and dignity.”

While being blissful for his accomplishment, he cited that the former Mayor Hector Villanueva and incumbent Mayor Karen were instrumental to his success.

Under Alama’s administration, significant improvements took place. The barangay hall is now equipped with modern facilities and technology enabling transactions faster and more convenient to employees and recipients. In his tenure of office, Tanods are efficiently organized, underwent trainings in Basic Fire Fighting Techniques, First Aid and Basic life support, and are now equipped with the necessary tools in the response of emergencies and in the enforcement of the law.
