Barangay Banilad wins Sandurot Fest

Barangay Banilad contingent bested other four barangays in Dumaguete during the Sandurot Festival Saturday evening at the City Hall quadrangle.

The champion barangay Banilad earned major awards such as best in street dancing and showdown, including minor award, namely, best in costume, best in choreography and Sandurot King.

Second place went to Barangay Talay, 3rd place to Barangay Daro and Barangay Poblacion 8 and Barangay Looc in 4th and 5th place, respectively.

Other awards include the Sandurot Queen which was earned by the representative from Barangay Talay and best in arch, Barangay Poblacion 8.

This year’s Sandurot Festival champion received P30,000 cash, trophy and Kopiko products, while the 2nd placer received P20,000, trophy and Kopiko products, 3rd third place received P10,000, while the 4th and 5th placers received P5,000 each.

The Department of Tourism is this year’s sponsor for the prizes.

Barangay Banilad will represent Dumaguete in Cebu’s Sinulog Festival in January next year, said City Information Officer Steve Gabriel.
