The City Disaster Management Office/Rescue 348 conducted a training of barangay rescue volunteers at the Lamberto Macias Sports & Cultural Center.

Randy Saldua, administrative officer of the City Disaster Office, said the training included ropemanship, rappelling, knot tying and water rescue operations.

The volunteers who were trained came from barangays 1, Poblacion 5, Poblacion 8, Bajumpandan, Bunao, Candau-ay, Daro, Looc, Mangnao, and Motong.

It was held to equip barangay volunteers with the basic skills on responding in times of disasters.

The City Disaster Office and Rescue 348, under Jose Chu, continues to provide training for volunteers in the barangays in line with the thrust Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria to be prepared always when disaster strikes. (PNA/JFP)
