MANILA — The Positive Energy Battle of the Brains is returning to Negros Island this August.

With the theme Renewable Energy for a Brighter Future, the regional inter-high school quiz bee was designed by the Energy Development Corp., together with Drink Editorial and Design Inc., to help the youth learn more about climate change, environmental conservation, biodiversity, and renewable energy.

“The Battle of the Brains is our way of encouraging the youth to pay attention to the environment. Through this quiz bee, we hope to not just inspire the youth of Negros to live more sustainably, but to also encourage them to act and influence others to do the same,” says Norreen Bautista, head of EDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility team in Negros Island.

Now on its fourth year, the Battle of the Brains also aims to share vital information on renewable energy among the youth of Negros. “Through this quiz bee, we also spread awareness on the importance of renewable energy as one of the solutions to fighting climate change,” adds Bautista.

This year, the quiz bee will hold elimination rounds in Bacolod, Bago City, Kabankalan, Bais City, and Dumaguete/Valencia this August.

Junior and Senior high school students will battle it out in these elimination rounds to make it to the grand finals, which will be held in September in Dumaguete. The winners of the quiz bee will receive cash prizes, aside from prestige to their schools.

Registration is open until July 31. The complete details and mechanics of the quiz bee can be found on the Positive Energy Negros Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/PositiveEnergyNegros.

EDC is the country’s premier renewable energy company and one of the world’s largest geothermal producers. Its geothermal facilities in Valencia has been providing clean, renewable, reliable power 24/7 to Negros Island and other parts of the Visayas region for over 36 years. (PR)
