Bayawan City – An unidentified gunman riding in tandem ambushed and killed Bayawan City Councilor Alex Diamante Tizon Tuesday.

Tizon was driving home in his car, an Isuzu Crosswind SUV, when the motorcycle drove beside his car upon reaching barangay Villareal and opened fire, hitting the councilor in various parts of the body.

Tizon, 66, was the lone candidate under the ticket of Gov. Roel Degamo who won in Bayawan City. Bayawan city OIC chief of police PLt Col Alfonzo Enriquez said the suspects wearing bonnets. Testimonies of eye witnesses disclosed the firearm used could be an automatic 9mm KG 9 pistol.

Enriquez said the police had so far recovered 4 fired shells of cal 9 mm pistol. He said the crime scene is far from residential houses which the suspects took advantage of.

Before this term, Tizon also served as city councilor for two terms. He lost his vice mayoralty bid in 2016 but won a seat in the City Council in last year’s election. (Juancho Gallarde)
