Negros Oriental acting Provincial Elections Supervisor Juvenal Tuale has exhorted candidates in the May 13 polls to be good sports, and accept defeat, or humbly earn victory.
At the candidates’ forum for Sangguniang Panlalawigan bets in the second district of Negros Oriental, Tuale said that while the objective of the elections is to win, defeat is also a part of the exercise.
It is not always the strong, the gifted, the mighty, the able and the wealthy who win in politics, he added. He quoted a verse from the Book of Ecclesiastes that says “The fastest runner does not always win the race, and the strongest warrior does not always win the battle”.
“You can be a winner if you are in the right time and at the right place”, he added.
Tuale thanked the candidates, the political parties, the authorities and all those helping to make the May 13 polls a success.
He lauded the Diocesan Electoral Board of the Diocese of Dumaguete for spearheading the series of candidates’ fora in the province. (PNA/JFP)
