The towns of Bindoy and Jimalalud have made it to the list of poorest towns list in Central Visayas.
A report from the Philippine Information Agency said the list of poorest LGUs is based on the National Statistical Conciliation Board (NCSBP) poverty statistics on the Human Development Index.
The report compared the poverty statistics of the two towns for two years.
In 2006, Bindoy had a Poverty Incidence rating of 56.7 and 59.9 in 2009.
Jimalalud, on the other hand, had a 65.3 poverty incidence rating for 006, which decreased to 50.2 by 2009.
The report also does not mention how the other towns in Negros Oriental are faring in comparison to Bindoy and Jimalalud,
Most of the poorest towns in Central Visayas are in Bohol.
