For the fifth consecutive year, barangay Motong in Dumaguete was adjudged as the Provincial winner in the Search for the Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa among the component cities in the Province of Negros Oriental.

As Provincial winner, and Regional 2nd Runner-up (component city category), barangay Motong received P45,000 monetary prize (Provincial award), plaques of recognition, and P10,000 monetary prize (Regional award).

Motong Punong Brgy. Dionie Amores expressed gratitude to the Lupon members, barangay officials, barangay tanod brigade, and other stakeholders for their cooperation in finding means to settle all disputes amicably between and among the parties.

The annual Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards is one of the programs of the Department of Interior & Local Government to help motivate all Lupons to further improve and strive for excellence in the performance of their mandated duties and responsibilities.

Barangay Lupons are essential in the implementation of Katarungang Pambarangay that aims to amicably settle disputes between and among neighbors, to avoid the timely and costly litigation in the regular courts while preserving peace and order. (PIO)
