The British Embassy in Manila is inviting Dumagueteños who wish to study postgraduate courses at the United Kingdom to avail of Chevening Scholarships Programme.

According to communications manager at the British Embassy Manila, Lynn Ayers Plata, the Chevening scholarship program is awarded to future leaders to study at a Masters level in the UK at some of the best universities in the world.

“This is a full scholarship programme, which includes airfare, tuition fee, stipend, thesis allowance. But it is not only about education, it is about helping future leaders develop the skills and networks needed to make positive change in their home country,” said Plata.

The British Embassy is looking for aspiring leaders who have been identified as potential leaders across a wide range of fields, including governance, economics, peace-building, trade, law, climate change, energy among others.

Plata said they want people from across the whole of Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao to apply and take advantage of this excellent opportunity.

Most of the applicants still come from the National Capital Region, Plata said.

This time, the Embassy hopes to promote the scholarship programme in other areas to generate more scholars from across the country.

The Embassy is set to conduct a Chevening information session in Silliman University and also encouraged potential scholars from Dumaguete to apply for the programme. (PIA7)
