Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Gov. Armando Tetangco, Jr. on Wednesday announced that the BSP has planted the seeds for inclusive growth in the province of Negros Oriental, like creating the framework for banks to provide collateral-free loans to capital-deficient entrepreneurs through micro-financing and credit surety fund.
In the next three days, the BSP will be conducting lectures on money management in Dumaguete as a public service to all who want to avail of the program.
“It is never too early or too late to work on improving our lives through good money management practices,” said Tetangco, who led other Bangko Sentral officials during Wednesday’s inauguration of the newly constructed BSP building in Dumaguete.
Tetangco stressed Bangko Sentral wanted growth that is inclusive but would not want other sectors to lag behind.
He also said BSP currency experts are going around the country to conduct lectures for cash handlers and the general public on how to spot counterfeit money.
In addition, it has been expanding its education for the setting up of economic and financial learning centers in all its regional offices and branches to give the public free access to timely and accurate information.
Tetangco considers the inauguration of the new building in Dumaguete a special event for the BSP.
Also present during the inauguration were Monetary Board members Juanita Amatong, Nelly Favis Villafuerte, Ignacio Bunye, Alfredo Antonio and Peter Favila. Also present were three deputy governors of the BSP. (PNA/Juancho Gallarde)
