At least 10 different Buglasan Festival of Festivals costumes will be on display at the Robinsons Place from October 19 to 27.
The activity, dubbed Postura de Negros Oriental, is designed to showcase the various festival costumes of contingents from the towns and cities that have participated this year and in previous years in the Buglasan Festival held every October.
According to Raffy Duhaylungsod of the Negros Oriental Tourism Council, at least 10 contingents are expected to participate in the Postura de Negros Oriental, which formally opens on Saturday, October 19.
The Postura de Negros was launched last Sunday with the ceremonial unveiling of the official Filipiniana ensemble of the Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete, the capital of Negros Oriental.
Originally, other festival costumes were to be displayed on the same day, however, the contingents begged off saying these were still to be used for the grand showdown and street dancing competition of the Buglasan Festival of Festivals and the search for Buglasan 2013 King and Queen on Friday.
While only six contingents participated in Friday’s Festival of Festivals, Duhaylungsod said they have the commitment of other cultural contingents to feature their respective festival costumes.
On Friday, the six contingents that competed for this year’s grand champion of the Buglasan Festival of Festivals and their respective candidates to the Buglasan pageant were Justino Rafael Alcala and Christine Bellosillo, representing the Hudyaka Festival of Bais City; Nicando Boiser and Jogie R. Torres of the Hambabalud Festival of Jimalalud; Wayne Banaybanay and Rosette Nuico of the Pakol Festival of Sta. Catalina; Kyle Barte and Lindsay Belnas of the Tawo-Tawo Festival of Bayawan City; Dominic Colina and Ivy Clemente of the Ayuquitan Festival of San Jose; and, Psalm Kevin Oracion and Camela Christy Olis of the Saulog Festival of Tanjay City.
Three other contingents will also be showcasing their festival costumes although Duhaylungsod said he still has to get the commitment from them.
Duhaylungsod said the Postura de Negros Oriental will be a venue for locales and tourists alike to see and appreciate the uniqueness and beauty of each festival in the province’s different towns and cities. (PNA) CTB/JFP/UTB
