After the opening salvo of the 2024 Buglasan Festival under the direction of Gov. Chaco Sagarbarria, the excitement escalated on the second day yesterday Oct. 19, with a lineup of thrilling activities.
The events started at 2 pm with a civic military parade, and the Inter-School Marching Band Competition, where talented bands from Bacong High School, Piapi High School, Negros Oriental State University, and Silliman University competed.
The carefully-organized lineup of the parade consisted of seven divisions, ensuring that participants were suitably highlighted, from provincial government offices to national agencies, cities, municipalities, and various other organizations, concluding with an impressive display of floats.
As the day progressed, the buzz continued to build up with a ribbon-cutting ceremony of 23 participating booths, symbolizing the official opening of the fair.
This transitioned into a much-anticipated Variety Show by Viva One’s “Chasing in the Wild” program at 6 PM, featuring artists such as Hyacinth Callado, Gab Lagman, and Wilbert Ross, among others at the Freedom Park stage.
“The combination of musical performances and cultural displays encapsulated the festival spirit, merging entertainment with community pride,” said Glynda T. Descuatan, head of the Buglasan directorate.
A significant highlight of Buglasan’s Day 2 included the Pyro Musical Competition, with participants from various parts of the country: Pyro Haven from Lapu-Lapu City; ASP Fireworks from Bulacan; and Sparks Fireworks from Cebu.
The Pyro-Musical competition held at the Gov. Mariano Perdices Stadium was capped by a finale by one of the country’s most iconic bands, Sponge Cola.
“The festivities epitomize the communal cohesion and cultural richness that the Buglasan Festival aims to celebrate, fostering a sense of identity and belonging within the local community,” said Descuatan. (NegOr PIO)
