CAI to educate consumers

The Consumer Advocates Inc. (CAI), registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2004, is the first consumer organization in Region 7 to be granted accreditation by the Department of Trade & Industry.

CAI is an active consumer organization, and is currently under the leadership of its president, Linda Basmayor.

Since its inception, CAI has been working hard in tandem with DTI-Negros Oriental on projects ranging from consumer education and awareness, environmentally sustainable business practices, in compliance with laws that ensure consumer welfare promotion and consumer protection.

This year, CAI will venture into educating the consumers through this medium.

In the Philippines, consumerism is a subject less known to consumers and businessmen. This has resulted into the misconception that consumerism is anti-business or pro-consumers. Whatever way consumerism is perceived to be, this is the result of poor consumer education.

We hope to educate the consumers of their rights and responsibilities through this space, where we expect some interaction, sharing, and a healthy exchange of information, tips, and ideas.
