Forty-eight campers completed the 10th Energy Camp 2013 in Valencia, Negros Oriental Tuesday.
The camp is an annual activity of the Energy Development Corporation that aims to provide experiential learning to youths from the company’s host communities, and a brainchild of former EDC vice chairman Paul Aquino.
The Energy Camp has been recognized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines Anvil Awards and the International Association of Business Communicators Gold Quill Awards.
The campers were incoming fourth year students from partner schools in the geothermal sites, and children of employees of EDC and the First Philippine Holdings.
Activities included fishing, dancing, martial arts, basic sanitation and proper grooming, race competition, and map reading, and were aimed to hone the teamwork and coordination as well as develop the independence and self-worth of the campers. (MA)
