8 candidates to vie for Miss Dumaguete 2013

Eight lovely ladies from Dumaguete City will vie for the title Miss Dumaguete 2013 on Nov. 22 at the Negros Oriental Convention Center.

Glynda Descuatan, Fiesta 2013 directorate co-convenor and City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling Jr. presented the contestants to the local press at Robinsons Mall.

The eight candidates are Marie Flor Enopia,21 years old; Hazel Mae Trasmonte, 22 years old; Lorraine Kendrickson, 19 years old; Sheela Andre Bayon, 18 years old; Harriene Banaybanay, 19 years old; Lalaine Iligan, 18 years old; Monette Guivelondo, 20 years old, and Rosary Ica Monte De Ramos, 20 years old.

After the press conference, the local media chose their Darling of the Press in a secret ballot voting. The winner of the special award will be announced during the pageant night.

The pageant is part of the 10-day celebration of the 65th Charter anniversary of Dumaguete City that culminates on Nov. 24.

The winner of the pageant will receive a cash prize of P30,000; first runner-up, P20,000; and second runner-up, 10,000. Non-winners will receive P2,000 each. The City Government of Dumaguete handed over P30,000 to each contestant as subsidy, according to Maquiling Jr.

Proceeds of the Miss Dumaguete Pageant will go to the victims of typhoon Yolanda that hit Tacloban and other parts of Leyte. (PIO-Dumaguete)
