The City Development Council last week approved the Annual Investment Program (AIP) for Calendar Year 2025 which includes programs, projects and activities amounting to P 1.4 billion that will enhance the delivery of basic social services and infrastructure projects for the benefit of the citizens of Dumaguete City.
Mayor Ipe Remollo, head of the CDC, said the proposed budget of P 1.4 billion for Calendar Year 2025 as embodied in the AIP shall be taken from the following funding sources: beginning balance of P 76.5 million; local revenues at P 515 million and National Tax Allocation of P 808.5 million.
The General Fund Proper of 2025 was divided into the General Services Sector with a proposed total budget of P 554.4 million; Social Services Sector (health, nutrition, social welfare etc.) with a total budget of P 235.1 million; Economic Sector (septage, agriculture, environment, slaughterhouse, etc.) a total budget of P 312.6 million and 5% Gender and Development at P 70 million.
Also approved are the programs, projects and activities for the Local Council for the Protection of Children, Senior citizens, PWDs, peace and order and public safety, local youth development campaign against illegal drugs, local nutrition, annual procurement and cultural development.
Meanwhile, the 5% Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (disaster prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response and early recovery, rehabilitation and Quick Response Fund) amounting to P 66.1 million.
Finally the 20% Development Fund (infrastructure projects and environmental management) was allocated P 161.6 million.
Among the proposed projects and programs in the AIP include but not limited to Aid to indigent families in crisis situation at P 16 million; Aid to component barangays for their priority projects, P 22 million; aid to Sangguniang Kabataan at P 4.250 million for priority projects; medical allowance for qualified city employees (at P 7, 000 each) at P 9.2 million; Pamaskong Handog, P 20 million; Educational Assistance for students, P 12.3 million; purchase of various medicine for residents at P 5.5 million and burial assistance for senior citizens at P 3.5 million.
The 2025 Annual Investment Program, unanimously passed by the CDC, will be submitted to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for approval. (PR)
