Gov. Chaco Sagarbarria has dared critics of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital to visit it to see for themselves the improvements done under his administration.
In an interview after the inauguration and blessing of the lounge for patients and bantays at the NOPH, Sagarbarria said the NOPH is the only hospital in the Province that has a “complete lineup” of nurses, doctors, and medical technologists.
In contrast, he said, some hospitals are even forced to close some sections because of a shortage of nurses. The reason? Low salaries, Gov. Chaco added.
“If you saw the Provincial Hospital back then, and see it now, you can truly say there have been changes,” he said.
The Governor also defended the hospital’s pharmacy from critics who said that not all medicines are available. “About medicines, yes, not all medicines are available. Exotic medicines are not found in our collection because we try to get the non-expiring medicines. But a solution is to give cash assistance to patients to buy the required medicine,” he said.
Citing patients’ feedback, Sagarbarria said NOPH has now earned the trust of patients who arrive at the emergency room because they know they will be attended to by doctors. We try our best to cover all the needs of an emergency patient,” he said.
He also admitted that the NOPH is “still a work in progress”. “Not everything is perfect. I have been Governor for only a year. We try to do our best,” he said. (PR)
