The Silliman University Gratitude & Goodwill Ambassadors performed in the Thousand-Voice Choir project of musical director Ryan Cayabyab, which will be aired on ABS-CBN Sunday, Nov. 20.
SUGGA was one of the choral groups in the country personally invited by Cayabyab to render his repertoire of 19 Tagalog Christmas songs which he himself arranged. The concert was held Nov. 19 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Done in partnership with the Philippine Choral Directors Association and ABS-CBN, the Thousand-Voice Choir pulled together the country’s various singing groups. SUGGA performed with the Philippine Madrigal Singers, and a host of other musicians, including Lea Salonga.
SUGGA is a 31-member performing group composed of students and faculty/staff of Silliman. It made its debut performance at Tipon, a bi-annual gathering of Silliman alumni, held in June this year in Alaska. After their stint in Alaska, SUGGA has been performing in campus and outside Dumaguete. The group is directed by Dr. Elizabeth Susan Vista-Suarez, dean of the SU College of Performing & Visual Arts.
