For the last seven years, Born to be Wild served as an instrument for citizens to turn over to authorities any wild animal that has been captured or abused. As the year ends, Doc Nielsen Donato heads to Bauan, Batangas to rescue a ten-foot python that’s been in captivity for four months.
Pythons are important to balance the ecosystem. They control the population of rodents such as rats as part of their diet. In some areas, rodents seem to multiply endlessly because pythons are being captured or killed. This is evident in a private subdivision in Metro Manila where invasive squirrels have grown in number because they have no natural predators.
Doc Ferds Recio encounters a colorful bottom feeder that reminds divers of Christmas. They are called Christmas tree worms because of their color and shape. This worm is just the size of a one peso coin and the team needs to use a special lens to appreciate the beauty of the creature.
Don’t miss Born to be Wild this Sunday morning right after AHA! on GMA7.
