The Dumaguete City Government and the Ursuline Sisters of Somasca have entered into an agreement for the purchase of the Catherina Cittadini property in Barangay Calindagan in the amount of P 175 million subject to the payment mutually agreed payment schedule.
The Cittadini property includes the 1.8 hectares of land and more than a dozen buildings that can be used as the new home for the students and teachers of City Central Elementary School (CCES) and Calindagan Elementary School (CALES) once they can transfer before the opening of classes.
Mayor Felipe Remollo said that with the acquisition of the Cittadini property, the students and teachers of the 2 public elementary schools will now have better facilities and safer campuses conducive to learning and sports development.
Among the improvements inside the Cittadini property are school buildings, gymnasium, laboratories, cafeteria, chapel, a road network with adequate parking space, playground, dormitory, grotto and other structures.
The parents, teachers and Deped officials expressed gratitude to Mayor Remollo and other city officials for approving the purchase of the said property considering that classroom buildings of CCCES and CALES are deteriorating and in need of urgent repairs.
Mayor Remollo commended the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod for approving the acquisition of the Cittadini property in support of his objective to improve access and quality of education for students in the public schools. (PR)
