The month-long celebration kicked-off last Wednesday with a Zumba at the Park from 4pm to 5pm, which will be continued during the month’s five Fridays.

The celebration’s theme this year is: Timbang Iwasto sa Tamang Nutrisyon at Ehersisyo, which focuses on healthy diets and physically activity to prevent non- communicable diseases as a result of excess weight and obesity.

Activities for the nutrition month celebration include: Nutrition Caravan at 1:30 pm on July 7 at the Cadawinonan Elementary School; on July 9 at the North City Elementary School; and July 14 at the H.F Gloria School; a Well Baby Contest at 10 a.m. on July 28 at Robinsons Mall; a Quiz Bowl at 1:30 p.m. on July 16 at the Silliman University Nutrition & Dietetics Department; an Inter- High School Oratorical Contest on July 23; a Food Fair on July 30 at Quezon Park.

There will also be a Weight Management Forum to be held the whole morning of July 21.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sagarbarria will lead the annual Nutri-fit walk on July 12 starting at 5:30 a.m. This will start from two points: Rizal Blvd., and Looc Bypass Road, and will end at Freedom Park.

City Nutrition Officer Lourdes Taburaza said participating in the Nutri Fit walk are employees from the national and local government agencies, Department of Education, City and Barangay officials, and students from the different schools and universities in the City.
