The Department of Education City Schools Division here is preparing to implement limited face-to-face classes next month after adopting a blended learning modality since the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic began in 2020.

Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, DepEd-7 (Central Visayas) regional director, told the Philippine News Agency on Monday that city schools division superintendent Dr. Gregorio Cyrus Elejorde will submit a list of the public and private schools that will start to hold in-school classes.

“Initially, it will start possibly next month in this capital city, and that will cover the fourth quarter of the school year,” he said in mixed English and Cebuano.

He added that elementary and high schools are ready for the implementation of limited face-to-face classes, according to Elejorde, noting that it will be on a “progressive expansion”.

Meanwhile, the city government, through a council resolution, expressed its support to the proposed resumption of face-to-face classes, provided basic health and safety protocols will be observed.

The province of Negros Oriental remains under Alert Level 2 community quarantine status until March 31, along with Cebu and Bohol. Only the province of Siquijor and the City of Cebu are now under Alert Level 1. (PNA)
