To address the instructional concerns that have surfaced from the results of the Mid-Year Assessment conducted early December 2011, the Division of Dumaguete City of the Department of Education recently conducted a one-day pedagogical consultancy workshop held Feb. 4.
According to Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Emigdio B. Omictin, the activity aimed to provide technical assistance to all school heads and teachers to give quality service to the clientele we are serving.
About 600 teachers from both elementary and secondary schools trooped to West City Elementary School for the workshop. They were asked to list down the least learned skills from the test questionnaires of the mid-year assessment.
“It was a challenging task because we were asked to look into and analyze the results of the test,” said Melanie Siquijor, one of the participants. She added that it is a task that most of the teachers have neglected due to many school concerns.
The participants were asked to re-examine and analyze the midyear assessment results particularly the frequency of correct responses for the subject handled and the art of questioning.
Facilitators of the workshop were the various master teachers, school principals and education program supervisors of the Division.
