It was an early Christmas for some 41 employees of the city government of Dumaguete who received their respective loyalty cash awards recently in simple rites at the Mayor’s Office last July 1, Friday 2011.
City Mayor Manuel T. Sagarbarria said the government has allotted P820,000 representing the loyalty awards of employees, some of them having served the City for over 30 years. The awardees received P1,000 for every year of service in the City.
Meanwhile, Sagarbarria reiterated that his choice for the next Chief of Police of Dumaguete is Supt. Crisaleo Tolentino, a resident of Batinguel, who completed his training June 23 and is waiting for the dowbloading of his name in Region 7.
Tolentino visited the Mayor’s office Monday, together with City Police in-Charge Police Sr. Insp. Eduardo Oira.
The OIC Chief of Police presented the case folder of the kidnapping of a Korean student by another Korean national two weeks ago, informing the City Mayor that appropriate charges have been filed against the suspect.
The kidnapping case would have been the first assignment of Col. Tolentino, had his orders arrived earlier.
In an interview, Col. Tolentino said he was honored to be the choice of the Mayor as it would give him the opportunity to serve the City, and address the persistent proliferation of illegal drugs and other crimes.
He considers illegal drugs as the mother of all crimes and had been actively running against drug peddlers and suppliers while he was chief of the Criminal Investigation & Detection Group in the Province a few years back.
