City hospital to rise on donated lot in Talay

Top officials of the Philippine Tuberculosis Society Incorporated formally signed Friday the deed of donation of its 1-hectare lot in Barangay Talay in favor of LGU-Dumaguete for the construction of the City Hospital.

PTSI President Dr. Camilo C. Roa Jr. and Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo, with their respective witnesses PTSI Chairperson of the Committee on Legal Concerns and former senator Teofisto Guingona III and City Legal Officer Manuel R. Arbon, presented the deed of donation that conveys the property to the City Government during this morning’s event at the session hall.

Mayor Remollo expresses his utmost appreciation to PTSI for its generosity of donating the property that will be utilized to establish a modern hospital that will enhance the delivery of health care services for the citizens.

Meanwhile, PTSI President Roa said that the City of Dumaguete is also a recipient of a portable x-ray machine that with the help of artificial intelligence will be able to screen possible cases of TB for early detection and treatment that will save more lives.

For his part, former senator Guingona commended Mayor Remollo, whom he described as a true statesman, for continually working in line with his vision of a progressive, cleaner and healthier Dumaguete City.

The donated property, which is the site of the proposed City Hospital, is located adjacent to the City Health Office where basic medical services can be availed already by the residents.

The delegation from PTSI also included Vice-President Benjamin Quezon Avanceña, Dr. Jaime Y. Lagahid, Executive Director Ronald A. Vergel de Dios and Medical Director Dr. Pauline Jean B. Rosell-Ubial. (PR)
