The century old Manuel L. Quezon Park will get a major makeover in time for the holidays to be highlighted by the mounting of a giant Christmas tree.
Pursuant to the beautification and landscaping of the historic Quezon Park, the administration has requested for at least P 1 million for the installation of lights, decorations and replacement of the 18 watts LED bulbs into 27 watts capsule type for all lamp posts at the park.
The United Architects of the Philippines has also offered the design of the Christmas tree that must be put up within the week to serve as additional attraction for families in search for rest and recreation to converge.
Councilor Joe Kenneth Arbas lamented that the City Engineer’s Office failed to properly store the old Christmas trees so these could be recycled and enhanced every year.
He urged the responsible officials to appropriately keep the Christmas tree for future use after learning that the old tree could not be displayed as the steel foundation has been corroded by rust and may only pose danger to park goers, particularly children. (Dumaguete City PIO)
