The City of Dumaguete is set to improve the operations of the CCTV system and the Discipline Zone, expand the community-based rehabilitation for drug dependents, professionalize the Barangay Tanods and conduct other capability building seminars for stakeholders.

This is part of the City Peace and Order Council’s P18.8 million appropriation for the year 2025 for programs, projects and activities to fight crime and boost public safety.

Councilors Jose Baldado and Rey Lyndon Lawas joined the deliberations of the proposed budget with representatives of other agencies.

The City Government provides funds to support their law enforcement operations to supplement the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Interior and Local Government, Armed Forces of the Philippines, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, which are national agencies with their own budgets.

The local government also provides support to the Bantay Dagat, Department of Education and People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB). (PR)
