City to mark 114th Civil Service month

The city government of Dumaguete through the Human Resource Office, is busy preparing for the month-long commemoration of the 114th Philippine Civil Service Month celebration with the opening salvo on Sept. 1, during the flag raising ceremony.

City Human Resource Officer Ruperto Tenorio, who presided the working committee meeting, planned out the different activities scheduled for the whole month celebration with this year’s theme Tapat na Serbisyo alay ko Dahil Lingkod Bayani ako”.

Tenorio said the highlights of the celebration include the opening of a sportsfest such as basketball, volleyball, kickball, chess, dodgeball, and a fun run.

City Sports Officer Ike Villaflores, in-charge in all sports activities, told the working committee that the sports games such as basketball and volleyball will begin earlier on Aug. 23.

He said the fun run on Sept.7 will be led by Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, City Hall employees, including government employees of the national government.

The fun run is open for three categories: 35 years old below, 36-50 years old, and 51 years old- above.

The 5K fun run will start at 5:30 in the morning along Sta. Catalina St., fronting the Traffic Management Office and will end at Quezon Park.

Other activities: City Hall’s Got Talent, Quiz Bee. Awarding of winners is on Sept. 29.

This anniversary marks 114th year stronghold of good governance and national development since the enactment of Public Law No. 5, otherwise known as an Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of our Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands. (PIO)
