Nearly 1,000 elected officials, regular, and casual employees of the City of Dumaguete will receive an additional bonus of at least P5, 000 each before Christmas.
Job Order workers, who have no employer-employee relationship with the LGU, are not qualified to receive the bonus.
However, the City will find means to grant them bonuses, should a national law allow it.
One Wednesday, the City Council approved the request of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo for the appropriation of P4.9 million to fund the so-called Productivity Enhancement Incentive, pursuant to Executive Order No. 201 of then President Aquino to increase the morale of government workers.
The City is waiting for the Memorandum Circular from the Department of Budget & Management as basis to determine the qualified employees, and the minute detail on how it shall be disbursed.
E.O. 201 has been specific in setting the PEI at P 5,000 for each official or employee.
Councilor Lilani Ramon, who shepherded the passage of the appropriation ordinance, said the source of funds for the bonuses is the budget from employment positions that have remained vacant throughout the year. (City PIO)
