Climate Change Commission Sec. Mary Anne Lucille L. Sering will visit Dumaguete next week to bring stronger awareness about global warming.
Sering, who is also vice chairperson and commissioner of the CCC, will give a lecture in the Regional Economics Conference to be held on Monday Sept. 26 at Silliman University, together with former Environment & Natural Resources Undersec. Divina Cojuangco, SU President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III, Mylene Santos of Shell Philippines and Gina Lopez of ABS-CBN Foundation—Bantay Kalikasan.
Wilma M. Tejero, chair of the SU Economics Department, said the lectures will focus on the root cause of climate change. She said the seminar aims to inform the public and encourage concrete outputs from the participants from Bohol, Ilo-ilo, Bacolod City, Siquijor, Cebu and local sectors in the city.
She said they expect the LGUs to start an inventory as well as account and manage the greenhouse gasses in their respective localities. They also expect the participants from Dumaguete to become more conscious about their carbon emissions and for the students to be more conscious about their actions towards contributing to carbon.
