Despite bad weather, 3,386 runners flocked to the starting line by 4 am, Nov. 16 beside Robinsons Mall to brave the Dumaguete Adventure Marathon, oganized by Foundation University in celebration of the Dumaguete fiesta.

The winners for the 42-kilometer full marathon were: Isaac Simat, Douglas Mwiti, and Wilbert Laurecio; Mereeis Ramirez, Iresh Belleza, and Jennefer Catublas.

For the 21-kilometer half marathon, the overall winners were: Lelei Kip Elliud (1:24:36), Arcel Bohol (1:26:16), and Loreto Gaso (1:34:48).

Overall winners for the 21K half marathon: Roselyn Balongcas (1:47:26), Nelfa Bayonado (2:02:18), and Philmae Estrologo (2:15:34).

The marathon took the runners through the rocky and slippery trails of Balili, Sibulan and Valencia towns upto more than 1000 feet, before they made their descent back to Dumaguete via barangays Bong-ao, Cantil-e, and Mangnao.

About 80 percent of the half and full marathon routes were rugged trail.

The DAM runners were classified according to various categories: 3K Kiddie Run, 5K Finisher’s Run, 10.5K Wellness Quarter Marathon, the 21K Half Marathon, and the 42K Full Marathon.
