Developers and contractors doing business in Dumaguete, and even outside of the City, have pooled their resources to provide fill up materials of the remaining portion of the entire 1.7 hectare space intended as venue for sports competitions, and at the same time as a shoreline protection for residents within the vicinity.
City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said in three months time, the whole area will be filled up with less expense of the City, while the provincial government is also extending help with the use of its equipment.
The Mayor has assured that no vertical structures will rise in the area, except for the lamp posts.
What is more significant, Remollo disclosed, is the fact that when completed, a 1.7 hectare is added to the land area of the City at a value of only P90,000 per square meter, more or less.
Aside from the P15 million fund allocation from local sources, another P14 million is expected to be provided by the Department of Budget & Management for the landscaping of the project along the Rizal Boulevard. (Juancho Gallarde)
