The Perpetual Help Community Cooperative, Inc. (PHCCI) supports the nationwide campaign, Brigada Eskwela program of the Department of Education (DepEd) for the rehabilitation and improvement of government schools.
The cooperative has been helping some government schools in Negros Oriental who were soliciting help for their schools.
According to PHCCI Marketing Manager Cliffordson Lariosa, the help given to the schools is part of the cooperative budget for the community development.
The cooperative is strongly upholding the principle on the Concern for Community.
PHCCI is giving priority to partner schools who are implementing the Aflatoun program for elementary school children.
The Aflatoun partner schools include West City Elementary School, West City Science Elementary School, City Central Elementary School, Batinguel Elementary School in Dumaguete City. Sibulan Central Elementary School, Magsaysay Memorial Elementary School in Sibulan. Valencia Central Elementary School in Valencia, Negros Oriental and Sta. Catalina Science Elementary School in Sta. Lariosa said these schools received donations like paints, construction materials and other school improvements.
Some schools also requested for school supplies and other materials that will be used for the classroom.
He strongly believes that community support is needed to help improve school facilities and prepare the school for the opening of classes in June.
The Brigada Eskwela will kick off on May 30 to June 4, 2016 with the theme, “Tayo Para sa Paaralang Ligtas, Maayos at Handa Mula Kindergarten Hanggang Senior High School.”
Brigada Eskwela promotes the spirit of “bayanihan”, with private institutions/individuals and even the local government units contributing in generating resources for the effort.
During the week-long event, volunteers take time out in doing minor repairs, painting, and cleaning of school campuses. (PNA)
