The Perpetual Help Community Cooperative, Inc. (PHCCI) has pledged to support the HEAVEN program for Agriculture on Sustainable Organic Farming of the Diocese of Dumaguete through its Community Development Project.
A board resolution approved by the Board of Directors of PHCCI releasing the amount P25,000 for the community project of the diocese.

HEAVEN stands for Health, Education, Accountability, Violence prevention, Environmental Protection and Networking (HEAVEN).

Rev. Fr. Burton Villarmente, head of the Social Action Team received the donation Tuesday from Cliffordson Lariosa, PHCCI Marketing and Membership Development Officer (MMDO), said Maricar Aranas-Vensuelo, PHCCI’s marketing and advertisement coordinator.

Lariosa was quoted as saying that PHCCI is supporting the project of the church in developing communities to become self-sufficient especially on aspect of livelihood.

He is also thankful to the Diocese of Dumaguete through the Social Action Center for giving birth to the idea of HEAVEN because it becomes an avenue for organizations and institutions as channel for their budget for community development.

Fr. Villarmente expressed his gratitude to PHCCI for heading their call for generous donors to support the program of the diocese. He is hoping that PHCCI can become a regular partner in implementing the Sustainable Organic Agriculture project.

He admitted that donations and financial support are important to sustain the existing program and implement those that are still in the implementation stage.

There are plenty of things that can be done through HEAVEN but they have to be done step by step. It is important to augment the programs of government because they cannot accommodate all the needs of the communities, the priest said.

At present, the HEAVEN program has been implemented at CARITAS Housing Project phases 1 and 2 and with some families still living in tents in Barangay Junob and Batinguel area in Dumaguete City after they were displaced by typhoon Sendong in 2011. (PNA)
