A public high school teacher is now behind bars pending further investigation and the filing of criminal charges against him for allegedly raping one of his students in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

The suspect, whose name is withheld pending investigation was accused by the 15-year old female student of having sexually assaulted her recently, an initial police report said.

The complainant told police investigators that she and her boyfriend were at the teacher’s house sometime last Tuesday, which was a regular holiday, after the latter asked them to come over and help with the household chores.

The suspect was reportedly entertaining a co-teacher and having some alcoholic drinks at the time, apparently celebrating the twin feasts of All Saints’ and All Souls Days while his wife was also inside the house prior to the purported rape incident, a police report said.

The complainant alleged that she and her boyfriend were forced by the teacher to have sex but the boyfriend refused.

Instead, the suspect took advantage of the girl who claimed she was raped in a grassy field some 30 meters away from the house of the teacher.

The girl then reported the incident to the police, who immediately proceeded to apprehend the teacher who is now detained at the Tanjay City police station. (PNA/JFP)
