Anti-illegal drug operatives in Negros Oriental seized some PHP6.8 million suspected shabu in separate operations in February and during the first week of March, a police official said Friday.
Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), said continuous operations against illegal drugs and other crimes resulted in the seizure of some 853 grams last month with a street value of over PHP5.8 million.
Additionally, police operatives confiscated a total of over PHP950,000 worth of suspected shabu during this week’s Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) and a separate buy-bust operation on Thursday, Polinar said.
“The latest to fall in the anti-illegal drug operations here was a high-value individual included in the list of Top 10 priority drug personalities at the regional level,” he said.
The suspect was arrested early Thursday in Barangay Boloc-boloc in nearby Sibulan town and yielded 105 grams of suspected shabu.
Meanwhile, during the SACLEO from March 3-5, the police conducted 16 anti-illegal drug operations, with 16 persons arrested.
Other accomplishments of the police included 15 operations against illegal gambling with 33 persons arrested; 50 operations with 11 most wanted and 40 other wanted persons arrested; 29 operations against loose firearms with a total of 31 confiscated/surrendered loose firearms; six Oplan Katok operations with a total of seven deposited firearms; and 603 persons apprehended for violations of various local ordinances.
